Rethinking Christianity
God or Jesus? The Bible or the Holy Spirit? Questions to Offer a Different Outlook
In this post, I want to challenge you to look at Christianity in a different perspective, a perspective that is based on the Spirit, not the Bible. A perspective that is focused on God, not Jesus. A perspective that is open to reality, not dogma.
Why do I say this?
Because as a former Pentecostal Christian, I know how personal and intimate our relationship with God can be. And I also know how defensive and offended we can get when someone questions or criticizes our faith. But I’m not here to attack you or your faith. I’m here to invite you to a deeper and more meaningful understanding of God and his will.
How do we do that? By looking at the hierarchy of things.
For example, who is more important: God or Jesus? The answer should be obvious: God.
God is the source of everything, and Jesus was his manifestation in human form. Jesus himself said, “The Father is greater than I” (John 14:28).
So if you put Jesus above God, you are missing the point of his mission and message.
And what about the Bible and the Holy Spirit? Which one should we rely on more? Again, the answer should be clear: the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the living and active presence of God in our lives, and he guides us into all truth.
Jesus said, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth” (John 14:16-17).
The Bible is a collection of books that testify to God’s work in history, but it is not the final authority or the ultimate revelation. The Bible has been corrupted, misinterpreted, and misused throughout history, and it has been used to justify atrocities such as slavery, murder, and adultery. That’s why we must follow the Holy Spirit over the Bible and listen to his voice in our hearts and minds.
When we do that, we open ourselves to a new dimension of reality, where we can experience God in his divine nature, not just in Jesus, but in everything and everyone. We can see God in nature, in art, in science, in other religions, and in other people. We can see God as he truly is: infinite, eternal, and universal.

I wrote an article on my Leaves of the Tree Substack "The Bible Claims to NOT be the 'Word of God'" where I talk about how Ezekiel says the "Word of God" came to him. It's clear that he wasn't given scriptures (not even the book of Ezekiel was written yet) and he wasn't given a bible. The "Word of God" is the Holy Spirit. We had no need of a book to hear the word of God.
What are your initial thoughts and reactions to the article? I have battled with this regarding the 'word' of a book, and the Truth. As you stated "That’s why we must follow the Holy Spirit over the Bible and listen to his voice in our hearts and minds." Why would people choose to remove themselves from society to sit in a cave? To Listen. Words are like the static you hear and sometimes can even see, on a TV. Very distracting and stressful for our Being and nervous system. Words hold a vibratory element....why they call it 'Spell-ing" This statement you made as well, "Jesus said, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth” (John 14:16-17)" I've not read the words of the book called the Bible, but when I read these words what arises within me is a very expansive feeling that radiates out from my Heart, and this feeling rises upwards into my throat, to my eyes and comes in the form of tears. This feeling as I sit in Silence and Listen, for me, feels like the Truth.
