Ron DeSantis: The Hero we didn’t know we needed.
Thank goodness Florida has him. No holds back! Calling out lies and deceit. Where has he been this whole time?
I originally wrote and posted this article on May 23, 2020, during the beginning of the pandemic. This and other articles eventually got me kicked off Medium for “counterperspectives and unpopular opinions.” I’m reposting it here on Substack. Enjoy!
You should have seen the interview clip of Ron DeSantis going off on the media. In case you haven’t, its probably because the media isn’t going to show it since it blasts them or you just haven’t seen it. Before reading any further, here’s the video.
This video is crucial because it gives a voice to the other narrative. Those “sociopaths” as Tim Wise calls them. Quite a judgmental thing to say, but who am I to judge. That other narrative has been bullied, beaten down, and spat on relentlessly, but finally, they have a chance to speak. And they spoke with a vengeance!
DeSantis says a lot of things in that two-minute clip, but they’re some soundbites that are simply golden. First, let’s start with Dr. Brix.
Dr. Brix and Florida’s Data
As she said earlier in April, “If you go to the Florida Public Health website on COVID, they’ve been able to show their communities’ cases, and tests district by district, county by county, ZIP code by ZIP code,” Birx said.
“That’s the kind of knowledge and power we need to put into the hands of American people so that they can see where the virus is, where the cases are, and make decisions.”
That’s sound data making decisions. Of course, you probably didn’t hear that, but probably heard about the data analyst who was fired, which was how this whole thing got started. Ron got rid of her for “putting data on the portal, which the scientists didn’t believe was valid data.”
Before we all start jumping on the data integrity bandwagon, let’s remember, we are being super liberal with the data.
Multiple scientists have warned of this grave error. You die from the disease, not with the disease. But you probably haven’t heard that piece either.
Partisan Narrative
The second part of his tirade involved “any insinuations” that are “typical, partisan narrative.”
What could be considered the typical narrative? What has been “waxed poetically for weeks and weeks?”
Seeing how five companies control our news, which was eloquently called out by Monica Harris, that narrative probably refers to:
“We’re all going to die”
“This is the new normal”
“Life has changed as we know it”
“Reopening is Human Sacrifice”
From CNN to The Atlantic, every outlet is spinning the same narrative. With that current narrative, it’s impossible to be sane. It’s impossible to be calm and collected. As a matter of fact, if you’re relaxed, you’re almost looked to be an outcast since everyone’s displaying pandemonium.
Like DeSantis said, “Hell, it’s been eight weeks!”
The Atlantic called Georgia’s reopening a “Human Sacrifice,” but last week, Yahoo shows that Coronavirus cases were declining, mainly in Georgia and Florida. I wonder if you heard this piece of news? More than likely, no.
It doesn’t fit that poetically waxed narrative.
Ron DeSantis vs. Andrew Cuomo
When we talk about this poetic narrative, it doesn’t become more evident than looking at the media coverage of DeSantis to Cuomo. Governor versus Governor.
One’s received an enormous amount of airtime. Could it be from his city having the largest amount of cases? Sure. That’s a very logical statement. However, does the fact that his brother is an anchor for one of the media outlets plays a role? I would say this needs to be factored in.
I would also question the integrity of an outlet that would allow such a conflict of interest to ensure on National TV. What does that say about our, us viewers, intellect? When we don’t even bat an eye to this atrocity?
This governor decided to jump right into the corona battlefield, shoot first, ask for forgiveness later. To make matters worse, he did it with our most vulnerable population. This governor allowed for senior citizens to be readmitted back into nursing homes if they were positive with the coronavirus.
When comparing Washington State to New York, who at the time had similar numbers, “nearly two months later, more than 2,300 New York nursing homes and assisted facility residents have died from Covid-19, with another 2,500-plus presumed to have died from the virus. Five times as many coronavirus deaths reported in all of Washington state”.
You probably didn’t hear about this either. It shames the narrative.
The other Governor decided to wait before closing their state. This governor decided it was better to receive better data before acting. Ever heard that phrase, “Think before you Act?” That’s just not a saying for saying sake. It’s a rule that we should all take to heart.
This governor was crucified by, you guessed it, the narrative, for choosing to take it slow.
Again, “Hell, it’s been eight weeks!”
The same two-month time frame has yielded entirely different results in New York and Florida.
Moving Forward
DeSantis is using data to move forward. Like Sweden, who uses data to drive their decisions, Florida looks to be headed in the right direction. Recently, DeSantis allowed for summer camp to be back in, and you can bet this is going to receive some noise.
Before we go any further, have we ever stopped and considered the children going through this pandemic? Have we considered what it is to shift “normals” rapidly? NPR recently did a piece on the mental health of our children which offers a glimpse as to why DeSantis is choosing reopen Summer Camp.
Like many others, such as Dr. John Ionnaids, DeSantis, is using a calm, cool approach to weather this storm. They’re using data instead of drama to make decisions.
Unfortunately, that’s not going along with the corporate narrative, but hell, thank goodness for heroes.

If DeSantis were truly a hero he would come out out full on with the whole truth about Covid. The truth Dr. David Martin has laid out, tracing it's origins back to patents from years ago, which he very well knows. None of our politicians are willing to do this, despite there being ample evidence of federal racketeering...
