In my upcoming book, An Unorthodox Truth, I open by discussing Plato’s Allegory of The Cave. I discuss the allegory in my October review but with a different rendition. The main lesson we need to take away from the parable is that our perception of the world is how we view reality. It doesn’t matter if our perception is correct; however, if that is how we view the world, that is how we live our reality. 

As you can see, this can have disastrous consequences. If I were a would-be ruler, all I have to do is control the population’s perception, and I could then control their reality. This act is done in many ways, from education to science to religion and so on. This is the power of narratives.
