Reduce the prescription month by month, if you're on 40mg, then bring it down by 10mg per month. Stay away from alcohol though, if you're powerless over alcohol then join your local AA. It worked for me. Also, every morning, before you drink or eat anything, mix equal lemon juice and warm water and drink that. It's a Chinese way to cleanse the liver. Best of luck.

I wasn't on any for very long, but, contrary to what Dr Ann-Blake Tracy and others opine, find it taking anywhere near that long hard to believe. Quitting Celexa abruptly felt like the flu for a day or two. Shouldn't take longer than a fortnight.

Depends on the dose and how long one's been on them.

Psychiatrist here. Tapering antidepressants can be a tricky business depending on which drug and how long you've been taking it. Some people's bodies become addicted more than others. Some people need to be very slowly tapered over a long period of time. Effexor, Paxil and cymbalta tend to be the most difficult to come off of. I had one person who took lexapro for 7-8 yrs, primary doc tapered over two weeks. He ended up disabled, unable to work or function and no one believed him until me. He showed me a YouTube video made by another man that described depersonalization and derealizaton they both experienced that made me cry. Please be careful! You may need to consult with a knowledgeable physician.

Meds do work to help some people sometimes. I've seen them save lives

I agree. For me, alcohol use altered my mood terribly and so I went on antidepressants instead of staying sober. But that was me, others have deep lying issues that cannot be easily resolved and only for antidepressants they'd be dead. It's a complex issue.

Great article Franklin đŸ˜€ this lines up perfectly with yogic science and chakra energy vortexes in the body, life force energy and how it gets bound up in living organisms. It's also free flowing in the cosmos. It's awesome to see you incorporating these perspectives in the realm of medicine.

I would presume this piece is about "antidepressants" that don't work, such as SSRIs, rather than those that do, such as SMM (S-methylmethionine)?

If it's being prescribed by Phychiatry, it doesn't work. It's really quite simple. The stuff that works *or* is safe, might be available at compounding pharmacies here and there, but Psychiatrists are there to prescribe the stuff that *doesn't* work. That is literally their job.
