Exploring the Erasure of Ancient Scientific Views and How European Science and Indoctrination Reinforce a False Narrative

There’s an understanding, a zeitgeist almost, that the ancient civilizations around the world contributed very little to our modern-day world. The idea we have of the cultures before us is that they were primitive and barbaric – except for the Europeans. Specifically, from the American perspective, this is what we’ve been taught; we see the historical sense of the world from this European view.

Not only is this evident in our historical sense of the world, but this is also reflected in our scientific view of the world. I would like to call this the “cloak of science.” Within this cloak, our understanding of physical reality has been largely given to us by Western Science. Starting with European scientists like Newton and Galileo, this whole string of “scientific reality” has been strung along for centuries and presented as the only view that exists. But this could not be further from the truth. However, this is the view that we were taught.

From our indoctrination which began as young as three and four years old here in the States, there are certain facts taught to us, sometimes before we even learn to talk. These facts are:

• the Earth is round,

• the Earth revolves around the sun,

• and there are eight/nine (depending on when you were taught) planets in the solar system.

We’re taught these facts before we’re taught basic arithmetic, and this is the basis upon which our reality is built:

• we’re on this planet Earth,

• we see the moon and the stars,

• and there are 365 days in a year – except for a leap year, and so forth and so on.

As we grow, we learn more facts about our country and our world, but the fundamental view of reality remains the same:

• The earth is round.

• The Earth revolves around the sun.

• There are eight/nine planets in the solar system.

This is the cloak of science, and it has now formed the reality for which we live in our world.
